How Much Are Snowboarding Lessons?

Snowboarding lessons range from $50 to $250, depending on where you are riding and what type of lesson you want. Group lessons are cheaper than private lessons, and some resorts are much more expensive than others.

I’ve been snowboarding for most of my life. I’ve taken many snowboarding lessons along the way, and I have first-hand experience with what a lesson costs.

I’ll provide you with a breakdown of what a snowboarding lesson costs in this post. I’ll tell you why lessons are worth it and give you some tips to save a little money if you need to.

Let’s get to it.

The Cost of Snowboarding Lessons

There is a pretty wide range of costs when it comes to snowboarding lessons. The cheapest I’ve seen in recent years is around $50, and the most expensive I’ve seen is over $300. But the average cost is probably about $150 for a standard lesson

There are different types of lessons out there. The two most common are group lessons and private lessons.

Group lessons involve a single instructor taking out a group of snowboarders. These lessons will be cheaper, but you won’t get as much one-on-one attention because the instructor needs to help 2 to 6 riders during the lesson.

Private lessons will be more expensive, but you’ll learn more by getting one. The instructor will only be focused on you, and this means that you can take advantage of their expertise and really get help with your riding.

You can also get lesson packages where you sign up for maybe 4 or 10 lessons over a few weeks or months during the season. This is an excellent way to save some money while also taking advantage of consistent help from your lessons.

The cost of a lesson also has a lot to do with where you are riding. The most expensive resorts will typically have the most costly lessons. If you want to take a lesson at a world-class resort, expect to pay top dollar for it.

How to Save Money on Snowboarding Lessons

If you are looking to save some money on snowboarding lessons, there are a few things you can try to get the cost down.

Some resorts offer rental and lesson packages. If you need rental equipment and want to take a lesson, you can take advantage of these offers and save quite a bit of money. Not every resort has this, but it’s always good to look into it.

If you have flexibility in where you ride, you can also save money by choosing a smaller resort where costs are cheaper. You might not have access to endless terrain, but you can get a good lesson for a lot cheaper at a lesser-known resort.

Also, keep your eye out for promotions and sales that run during the off-season. Some resorts offer discounts on lessons if you book lodging ahead of time or as part of the cost of a season pass. If you are a good deal hunter, you should be able to get cheaper lessons.
